If you're on the hunt for the perfect baby name and don't want a chart-topper like Oliver or Olivia, then do we have the list for you. BabyCentre UK has released a set of names on the verge of extinction - they are the 24 names yet to be registered in the BabyCentre database.

The endangered species of monikers for 2017 include 80s favourites like Donna, Ian and Karen, parents clearly don't want daughters named after the Brady Bunch sisters, (Marcia, Jan(ice) and Cindy), and while Roald Dahl might be a beloved author, the same can't be said for his name.

Some of the names on the list might not be a huge shock (hello Mildred and Bertram) but surely the very sweet Bonnie and Edward alternative, Edmund, are due for a revival. Anyone? Here is the complete list for your perusal.

  1. Cilla
  2. Bertha
  3. Cynthia
  4. Janice
  5. Anita
  6. Marcia
  7. Mildred
  8. Dorothy
  9. Edna
  10. Bonnie
  11. Cindy
  12. Donna
  13. Gail

  2. Frank
  3. Clarence
  4. Ricky
  5. Edmund

So if we won't be seeing any baby Cillas or Clives in the best of 2017 lists, what names can we expect?

When it comes to girls, BabyCentre says "short and sweet" monikers are leading the charge:

  1. Ava
  2. Isla
  3. Mia
  4. Evie
  5. Lily
  6. Ivy

And as for boys - well it's all about nicknames as first names:
