Is there a person on the planet who actually likes peeling garlic?
It's a big declaration, but I'm going to go out on a ledge and say that no one enjoys it. It's fiddly and boring, and you inevitably end up with garlic-flavoured fingers for quite some time afterwards.
The trouble is that we love to eat garlic, so the prep hassles are worth it for that flavour that no other seasoning can match.
It's no surprise then, that Twitter is currently standing to attention, obsessed with a genius garlic peeling hack that's gone viral on the platform.
Get a eyeful of this little beauty.
As someone who makes a lot of Korean food, this is the best method for getting garlic peeled!— 𝖛𝖆𝖑𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖆 ✣ 𝖑𝖔𝖗𝖉 🌑 (@VPestilenZ) June 17, 2019
The hack involves holding the full head of garlic in one hand, then inserting the short end of a knife blade into a single clove, then twisting the blade to remove it from the layers of skin.
It comes out perfectly peeled, no fiddly paper-thin skin left to struggle with. Even Chrissy Teigen was impressed.
The jury's out on whether it works for everyone, however, with some commenters saying it didn't for them. Other said it worked just like the video, so it's worth a shot in the name of not losing MONTHS of our lives to garlic peeling.
Ok. I don’t have garlic right now, but this settles my weekend plans. A culinary moonlanding— IseeU (@j_carsonlittle) June 17, 2019
I’m 33 years-old. I’ve lost no less than 4 years of my life peeling garlic. It’s too late for me. I hope younger generations can benefit.— Chris (@CDDye) June 17, 2019
Now run, don't walk to the store to get some before the garlic shortage hits.
