Bindi Irwin shared a touching video of dad Steve Irwin talking about his hopes that his kids will become wildlife conservationists in the future.
Sharing the clip to Twitter, Bindi said it was the first time she'd seen this footage of her beloved dad.
Steve holds back tears as he talks about the one thing that could make him give up his mission of wildlife conservation. He shares that the one thing that could make him stop is when his children take over the work he has started.
"When they're ready to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside," Steve said. "And I guarantee you it will be the proudest moment of my life…
"Then and only then will I know that I achieved my ultimate goal."
My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever.@AnimalPlanet pic.twitter.com/PWRiXvUrGx— Bindi Irwin (@BindiIrwin) February 4, 2018
It's unclear when the video was shot, but Steve died while filming a documentary 12 years ago, when a stingray stabbed him in the heart with its tail. Bindi was only eight at the time, but she has grown up working hard with mum Terri and younger brother Bob to continue Steve's legacy.
In the caption of the video, Bindi wrote, "I don't think I'll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever."
