Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is causing a stir among parents across the globe for describing himself as a "weekend parent".
"I will get to the key school events but I'm flat out Monday to Friday and normally see the children a couple of nights during the week," the father of five told Good Housekeeping magazine.
"I'm happy with that, I think they are fine with it."
Many of those commenting on Facebook empathised with Oliver, noting that it's a reality many modern families face.
"We would all love more time with our children I'm sure, but they also need a roof over their heads, feeding, clothing etc, and this all costs money, so therefore we have to work to provide for our children", Kirsty Forrest said.
At the other end of the spectrum, Beverley Evans said, "Kids are forever, not just for weekends!"
Despite the "weekend parent" comment, Oliver also told the magazine he wouldn't completely rule out adding a sixth child to the brood, saying "Jools [his wife] probably would like another child."
"I think we're done, but you never knew with Jools."
Oliver most recently made headlines down under when his Australian restaurant group was placed in the hands of voluntary administrators.
