'Disaster': Britain's biggest family with 22 kids go on holidays

When their once-in-a-lifetime trip Downunder was cancelled due to the coronavirus, Britain's biggest family decided to hit the road for a holiday closer to home - and moving their brood was as chaotic as you'd expect.

Sue and Noel Radford have 22 children between them.

Namely Chris, 30, Sophie, 26, Chloe, 24, Jack, 22, Daniel, 20, Luke, 19, Millie, 18, Katie, 17, James, 16, Ellie, 14, Aimee, 13, Josh, 12, Max, 11, Tillie, nine, Oscar, eight, Casper, seven, Hallie, four, Phoebe, three, Archie, two, Bonnie, one, and Heidie, who was born in April.

The brave couple uploaded a video to their YouTube Channel as they prepared to leave for their break.

"Today we're going away for the week," Sue said. "We're staying with our friends in their caravan. They have some caravans at a site in Edinburgh, so we're staying there until Monday - and then going to another caravan site with them for the rest of the week."

The mum shared that they were aiming for a 2:30 pm departure, "So we'll have to see how that pans out. But it's lovely outside today, the sun is shining."

In a later update, Sue explained that they were "crazy" busy packing. "We're just getting ready to leave for Scotland. It's been crazy, crazy busy trying to get everybody sorted and in the car."

Once they were packed and away, Sue's 17-year-old daughter Katie, took over.

"We're now on the road, finally. I can't even tell you how stressful that was, getting everyone in the car," she said."It was very, very, very stressful getting everyone in. But we did it! We've got about two hours and a bit of a drive now."

But not quite half way, "disaster" would strike.

"About an hour away from home, Millie phoned Noel and said 'you've left your laptop and your drone at home'," Sue shared.

"Noel was like 'do I leave the laptop or go back for it? Because it's going to take me two hours'. But obviously if he didn't bring the laptop, we wouldn't be able to upload any vlogs. So he's gone back for it. What an absolute disaster. Great start to the holiday.

"So we're just sitting in the service station, waiting for Noel to get back. I don't think we're going to get there until 8pm, 8.30. Not good."

The family eventually arrived and reunited with friends for a celebration of Phoebe's fourth birthday.

The Radfords had their first child when Sue was 14 and Noel was 18. They now have five grandchildren, with 18-year-old Millie expecting their sixth, a girl she has named Ophelia, in September.

"It's weird that my baby will have an aunt who is only five months older," Millie said at the time. "But it means they'll hopefully be really close."

The couple support their large family through their successful bakery - the Radford Pie Company - in their town of Morecambe.

They do three huge loads of washing per day in an 18kg washing machine and spend three hours tidying every night to keep the house under control.
