When mother of three Cassie Langan and her husband Chris asked their kids if they'd like to go on a day trip to Warrnambool, a delightful coastal city in Victoria, they were met with the classic school holiday refrain "That's so boring!"
Rather than wrangling three "unappreciative" kids, the South Australian pair decided to treat their most over-worked family member - their modem - to a well-deserved day out. And their adventure has the internet in stitches.
"Modem had a fantastic day not being used by the kids and it was lovely not to listen to constant bickering," Ms Langan wrote in a now viral post to Facebook.
The couple, who were accompanied by their 13-year-old son, certainly spoiled their MVP.
Caught some rays on this stunning beach:
Took a ride down a slippery dip:
Had a swing:
And enjoyed some delicious fish and chips:
He was even kind enough to share some of his chips with the seagulls:
The spectacular outing ended with a refreshing beer, because how else could you top such a day.
Ms Langan told Essential Baby that she's been "blown away" by how far Modem's story has travelled - and how many people have said it's given them a chuckle.
"The reason I made the post public is that there is so much on social media at the moment about politics, bushfires, drought and people having a hard time in general that I thought if my post brightened one person's day, it would be worth it," she says. " As an ordinary working mum of three who enjoys a quiet laid back life, I'm in complete and utter disbelief and amazement at the response."
And while the comments she's received on the post have been hilarious, Ms Langan says she's particularly amused by those who've said Modem's Day Out was a very "boomer thing to do".
"I'm only 35," she laughs.
