Christmas may be looking a bit different this year, but one family are making sure it will be just as festive.

Proudly declaring 'Christmas is in their DNA', husband and wife Josh and Jade Evans couldn't imagine a festive season without their annual Sydney Santa Spectacular.

And so, they found a way to make sure the huge family event goes ahead, with COVID-19 restrictions in mind.

"With all that's happened this year it just wasn't possible to bring that same event to life.  But we couldn't cancel all the Christmas fun," said Jade. "This year things are different – but we'll still have an event that brings all the fun and excitement of Christmas to life for little and big kids"

This year's event will be held at Rousehill Town Centre, with rides include Bungy trampolines, Storm, Pirate ship, Mini chairs, Tea cup and Toboggan super slide. The Evans' also excitedly revealed the 'crowning jewel' of the carnival - the renowned double decker carousel.

"The unique two-story vintage carousel is the only one of its kind in Australia, and is made up of more than 10,000 moving parts that have been painstakingly hand-restored," Evans explained to Essential Kids.

"We would usually have had the double decker carousel set up at major events around the country throughout the year," she continued.

"This year everything was turned on its head, all these major events were cancelled and so our Christmas Fun Fair will be the first time we will have set it up in 2020."

Coming from a big family themselves, the Evans know how hard to can be to keep the festive season under budget, explaining they decided on a $25 unlimited rides armband that will give festival goers access to unlimited rides over a three-hour session at the event.

"[We know] how expensive it can be to go to a special event – especially at a pricey time like Christmas," Evans explained. "We don't want anyone to miss out – especially after the year everyone has had."

As for COVID-19 safety precautions, the fair will be held outdoor following all safety requirements.

"We've already had so many inquires that we're sure sessions will sell out quickly, operating within COVID safe number restrictions and boundaries," Evans assures.

"We've worked with Service NSW and our industry body and it's been pretty straight forward to ensure we meet all the steps needed to run a safe public event," she continued.

"We have sanitisation stations at each ride, have strict cleaning procedures in place between rides and understand how we need to operate with social distancing."

Merry Christmas!
