A woman has shared a note she received from her neighbour, who asked that she only let her child out for "15-20 minutes a day" so her dog can play outside in peace.

Bobbie Hineman shared the note to Twitter, where it's been retweeted 13,000 times and received 131,000 likes.

"Dear 'neighbour'," the note read, "you just moved in a year ago, and I wanted to give you time to correct this problem on your own, but apparently you are too inconsiderate to do so."

The problem, if you're wondering, Is letting her child out to play.

"Every day this week, when the weather has been nice and windows are open, you proceed to let your small child run free in your background and laugh and giggle and carry on without end," the note continued.

"This is very disruptive for my two dogs and my bird who sit next to my window and like to look into your yard."

It didn't stop there, with Hineman's neighbour adding in some suggestions as to how to handle the "problem".

"Perhaps you could ask him to turn it down a bit, or at least limit his outside time to 15-20 minutes a day so my dogs can be outside without seeing him run around" they suggested.

"If this kind of behaviour persists, I will call the police," they threatened.

Thousands of users responded to the note on Twitter, many jokingly suggesting the woman buy her child a recorder or a drum set.

"How dare you let your young child GIGGLE in your own yard?!" one user wrote.

"Your neighbour's dogs and bird deserve the right to look out the window into YOUR YARD without seeing a giggling child there. Oh, the indecency,"

"Let them call the police," another user suggested.

"The police could use a good laugh."
