Gwyneth Paltrow is excited to enter the next phase of her life and as she celebrates 40-years-of-age the actress is more determined than ever to teach her children the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Although she was initially apprehensive about leaving her thirties behind, the mum of two says she is okay with entering a more mature epoch and credits her approach to health and fitness as the source of her positive attitude to ageing and parenting.

"I was really worried about it, leading up to the day, but now I feel really happy and content with my life," Paltrow told Us Weekly.

"I'm excited to move into the next phase. It's much more exciting than I thought it would be."

Paltrow said she will persist in certain practices to maintain her well-being in her 40s, such as meditation and relaxation.

"I think I try to promote self-growth and reflection for myself every day," she said.

Paltrow, who has two children, Apple, eight, and Moses, six, with rocker husband Chris Martin from Coldplay, wants her kids to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to involving them in sports such as soccer and gymnastics, she encourages them to be sound mentally too.

"I feel that mental happiness and physical happiness are so closely related, and especially for kids, because they have so much energy," she said.
