A simple and classic & kid-friendly favourite. 

Ingredients
6 apples (peeled and thickly sliced)
¾ cup water,
1 tbsp sugar
4 cloves
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup self-raising flour
100g chopped butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
¼ cup chopped almonds


Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.
  2. Combine apples (peeled and thickly sliced), water,  sugar and 4 cloves in a saucepan over low heat. Cook until apples are tender.
  3. Discard cloves, add 1 tsp vanilla extract and spoon mixture into a shallow, lightly greased ovenproof dish.
  4. Place self-raising flour in a bowl, then rub in chopped butter until well combined.
  5. Add brown sugar, desiccated coconut and chopped almonds and mix well.
  6. Spoon crumble mixture over apples and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until crumble is golden.
  7. Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
