Ingredients

400 g (13 oz) dried fruit salad (dried peaches, prunes, pears, apricots, apple and nectarines)
1¾ cups (440 ml/14 fl oz) orange juice
1 tablespoon soft brown sugar
1–2 star anise
1 vanilla bean, halved lengthways
yoghurt or crème fraîche, to serve 

Method

1. Put the dried fruit salad in a pan. Add the orange juice, sugar, star anise and vanilla bean.

2. Bring slowly to the boil, then reduce the heat, cover and leave to simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes, or until the fruit is plump and juicy.

3. Discard the star anise and vanilla bean. Serve the fruit drizzled with the cooking syrup and topped with the yoghurt or crème fraîche.
