Will kids and parents get on board once again?

They’re baaaaack.

Woolworths Collector’s Cards that is. You know, the ones that caused such a stir last year.

Woolworths is trying its luck with the third set of collector cards, this time featuring Dreamworks characters. There are 42 Dreamworks Heroes cards to collect, featuring characters from six popular Dreamworks movies (Shrek, Madagascar, Turbo, Puss in Boots, The Croods and Kung-Fu Panda).

Stuff kids collect

The cards are sturdier with lenticular images this time, while a collector album features lots of activities and trivia.

Feedback on the new promotion has been mixed on the Essential Kids forum. While some liked the high-quality cards, others were disappointed that shoppers will only receive 1 card for every $20 spent –which means you’d need to spend a minimum of $820 to receive the full set! Albums are $5 each and there are a stack of themed plush toys, stationary and other items available for purchase during the promotional period too.

The cards also come individually wrapped in a plastic pouch, which won’t please those who hate unnecessary waste.

Guessing by the ecstatic reaction my own kids had when I brought the albums home with the shopping on the weekend though, it seems Woolworths are on to another winner.

Once again, spare cards can be traded online, with a trading zone set up for free trading.

We’ll have to wait and see if trading hits playgrounds and online auctions sites this time around as well.
