I think they tried to make a show before didn't they? Or was it a movie? I can't watch it. I remember reading my sister's books when I was kid when she was at school, I wasn't allowed to touch them when she was around. It would never be able to match what's in my head, and I'd be disappointed.

Loved the books in the 90s .

i wonder if they will increase their ages ?

I even thought back then it was strange paying 12 year olds to get calls from strangers to stay in homes to look after babies and toddlers lol .

Dont know how well that transfers to a more ‘aware’ society we now live in .

There was a TV series and a movie before. OMG I'm ridiculously excited! I don't know how I feel about Alicia Silverstone being cast as Elizabeth Thomas/ Brewer, but we will see. I've continued to read the books as well as fanfiction on and off through my 20s and early 30s. My hobby in my early 20s was sourcing books I hadn't read from op shops, I ended up with a decent collection at one stage.

I still have my collection stashed in my parents’ garage! I remember not liking the movie that much but loving the tv series. I’ll definitely give it a go, as long as they don’t go all modern and Netflix special and try to make it deep and serious.

Not to mention all the dads taking them home at all hours. They'd have to modernize it, which would take away from the innocence I think

I'll definitely watch. Though I was a huge fan of Sweet Valley Twins / Sweet Valley High too.

Ha yes they were very old for their age I always thought! So many got their own car at 16!

I have to wonder if

The babysitters club will be angled at capturing the audience of original readers or rather the youth today.

Some of the way racial issues were handled is quite dated I think, although the author was obviously trying to be positively inclusive.

With this series they have diversified the core group with Dawn being played by a latina actor and Mary-Ann being played by a black actor.

That's interesting about Dawn. I remember they delved into her Japanese heritage quite a bit in the books.

Do you mean Claudia?

Dawn had the Californian surfer chick vibe and she was super healthy...
