The company have just rung asking for my son’s NDIS number .

my question is why would they need that information?

any help would great , in the mean time I have left a message asking them to call me back .

If you are self managed, I would just ring back and state that as the bills are being paid by yourself, you are not required to provide your child's NDIS information. Normally the NDIS number is used when they are plan/agency managed. Otherwise, there is no need for that information to be provided. (It's used for bill and reporting purposes, similar to a CRN linking daycares and individual attendees).

Thanks crankyM

thats what I thought  last year when they emailed me asking for it .

I sent an emailI stating that our NDIS was self managed and I wasn’t required to give that information to them.

I was wondering if things had changed since it was the new financial year

Ours asks for the number so that it’s on the reports that they write.

If you are asking for a justification to support the purchase of equipment (as I think you may have mentioned elsewhere), they probably need to put the number down on the justification report. They could potentially be audited with respect to that report in the future.

Providers have certain responsibilities under NDIS rules and in some aspects the can't just treat you entirely as a private patient even if you are self managed.

I would just ask them why they want it? Also - they can't do anything with it. It doesn't give them access to any information.
